The cockpit of the VC-10 is a lot larger than is normal.
In other a/c the F/E, when he is reqd to adjust the power settings, just has to lean forward to the centre pedestal as it is in comparatively easy reach from his seat.
In the VC-10 there is no way he can reach the pedestal throttles from his normal station. However for T.O. & Ldg he moves his seat fwd to behind the Centre Pedestal.
