AA Load Factor From BOS-MAN Was Good!

Hi Guys,

I got check with the seat map on AA.com and got looking it up with the load factor was good on their way from BOS-MAN and hopeful will make continuing with their flight to MAN and they are doing so well. So as you can see with check out with the load factor seat map almost 90% full.

BOS - MAN represents AA's highest load factor service across the Atlantic. Of course the flights have fewer seats than a 777, but this is no mean achienvement given the flight is so young.

Good news and no surprise. BOS-MAN has been a market always screaming for non-stop service.

On a related note, the service is still four months away, but advanced bookings for MIA-MAN are also very good, even in the premium cabins. Still hoping it will go year-round. Thanks to strong bookings, AA has already switched MIA-SKB, launching the same time as MIA-MAN, to year-round. I have also heard BOS-MAN may go year-round and operate in winter 2005/2006. Until then, however, it has already been uploaded into the summer 2005 schedule and will be returning.

I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong, but I believe AA served DFW nonstop from MAN for some time before eliminating the service.

AA has served DFW-MAN on a seasonal basis for several years, but I don't know if it will be coming back.

On a separate note, simply checking seat maps on AA.com doesn't give an accurate count of loads. Some seats are reserved for elites and later bookings, others are not assigned until check-in.
"Lose" is not spelled with two o's!!!!

Unlikely, because it is irrelavent. All the key connections that can be done on MAN-DFW can also be done via ORD, BOS, and MIA. Plus, those three markets have strong O&D to Manchester to further support the service. AA tried DFW-MAN in summer '95 (or '96, I don't recall). It did not work out well at all.

That is very true, it does not give a 100% accurate count. Though when you look at a seat map, see the flight is a good 90-95% full, you can bet that the flight will be going out quite full, maybe 85%, maybe 100%.

By the way MAH...call me dumb but what airport code is "SKB"? I saw you mentioned it as MIA-SKB being launched w/ MIA-MAN

Great news.

Would anyone care to speculate as to whether GLA will be next in line to receive a BOS service with AA ?

NW operated a successful GLA-BOS service for years befor closing their BOS tx hub.

I'm sure AA could do really well on this route.

I came off ORD-GLA on Sunday and the flight was well overbooked.

I was non-revving back from Europe a few days ago, and the MAN-BOS flight was overooked for Monday and Tuesday! I had my doubts that the service would be a hit, but apparently it's really doing well. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more 757 routes across the Atlantic next year.

Just FYI - The seatmap on AA.com is not in any way an indicator as to whether a flight is full or not.

AA blocks seats next to elites, exit rows always look "occupied" unless you're an elite where you can select them.

While the loadfactor may be good (I hope it is), I doubt it's the 90% that you're viewing on the seatmap.

Well, MAH4546 and this isn't all for service from DFW-MAN years ago and it was no longer use them. It will continuing on their service from ORD, BOS-MAN and coming soon for began new service from MIA-MAN on November 1, 2004.

Milemaster, they took away the seat blocking benefit a while ago, maybe a year and a half now? I thought it was the best elite benefit (at least when you're only Gold).

If the flight continues into the winter, will the FC cabin get FC service, or will it continue as all-coach?

I don't know if any other MAN regulars have noticed this, but transatlantic fares out of MAN are shockingly high at the moment. I've frequently seen over £100 (~$185) differences between comparable London and MAN flights.... I would be interested to see what yield they are getting on those routes.

Mark was referring to MIA-MAN, not BOS-MAN.

As far as BOS-MAN's performance, you're correct about checking the seat map. However, as others have confirmed, the route has a stellar load factor and is a strong trans-atlantic performer for AA.

All-coach. There is little demand for premium seats in the summer, even less in the slower winter travel period. I really think that BOS-MAN will go year-round after summer 2005, and MIA-MAN will go year-round after winter 2005/06. They have been strong performers, and there have been reliable rumours that LAX-MAN is on the drawing board for AA as well (seasonal summer service). The fact that AA and BA can codeshare on these flights was a major reason (perhaps the deciding factor) that MIA/BOS-MAN happened.

There really are no premium cabins on this flight. All sold as Y with the domestic F Class cabin going to Elites and Y fares!

That's BOS-MAN. MIA-MAN is operated by a 763 with 30 C class seats.

The load factors are that good. The flight has had more than a fair share oversold days. It is not that hard to fill 188 seats in a decently large tourist market over the peak of summer travel. Not hard at all.
