AA BHX - ORD Service

Thu Jul 15, 2004 1:30 am

I see MAN are getting more & more transatlantic services, what chance of another transatlantic from Birmingham? AA shelved their Chicago service about a yr ago which was a shame as I used to use it regularly. Now have to travel to LHR  Sad

I think the reason AA halted the BHX service was more to do with operating restrictions at Birmingham than load factors on the route. I doubt they will come back as they are focussing on oneworld hubs at MAN and LHR.

PIA flew BHX - ORD till early this year. They moved it to MAN with the induction of the 777.

Bristolflyer - why do you have to go to LHR? What's wrong with MAN? There's now a very good and reasonably priced Air Southwest service between BRS and MAN, so why not give it a try!

I heard it was due to lack of Business pax. Ecomomy was always full when I went on it.

What operating restrictions are there/were there?

PS I was on one of the last flights into BHX, without a doubt the smoothest landing I have ever had. Absolutely no turbulence and very few turns on the approach. Excellent!

Parents live nr BHX so it was easiest to stay with them and get a lift to the airport. I'm now in Phoenix, Arizona so interested in seeing if I can get back to Birmingham easier than via London. Dreaming of the day that an airline offers PHX-BHX direct!

CO have double daily 757 service to Newark from BHX, so they have it sewn up.
Lead me not into temptation, I can find my own way there...

Yeah, and the problem (for me) with that service is you get a 4hr layover in Newark when I fly on to PHX  Sad

BHX is twice daily, their is no 4 hour layover to PHX, it`s only about 2 hours. Also you get to fly the 752 transatlantic!!!
