TWA 800

Sat Feb 19, 2000 1:53 pm

I was wondering how many other people might be thinking of the similarites that flight 800 suffered:
Like Air India 182, in flight catostrophic failure, due to the forward cargo door;
United 811 structural failure in flight due to the forward cargo door;
Pan Am break up, due to bomb blast that ruptured the forward cargo door
All of these had radar blips preceding the events (the cargo door and aircraft skin falling away) All of these having #3 Engine FOD from cargo, etc,; All of these having starboard side wing FOD penetration damage; All of these aircraft "tear and peeling" effect starting at the starboard side station 680-station 741 just above the forward cargo door. All of these were -100's or 200's over 15,000 hours, that had a history of forward cargo door cam and electrical lock switch faults.
It just makes one stop and think, if TWA 800 may have had a cargo door jettison in flight.
Agree or Disagree?

There is no evidence to suggest that.

What the evidence does indicate, is that vapors in the center fuel tank were ignited. How is still unclear and may never be known.

The likely theory, according to Jim Hall himself, is that high voltage was sent into the fuel tank via a short in a bundle of wires that also contained low voltage wires that went into the fuel tank. Basically, the high voltage wire somehow sent a jolt down the low voltage wire and kaboom. There are some theories of how this can happen, but nothing has been reproduced in the lab yet.

Two things that definately did not cause TWA 800 to go down: a missile (sabotage) or something falling off of the plane.

TWA 800 was shot down, the evidence shows it and the facts remain no matter how much the government tries to cover it up and make themselves look like fools.

TWA shot down or not, there still might be some clues that might suggest that.
But on this forum I don´t think there is someone who can say that it was 100% this or that what caused that tragic accident. If it really was a rocket (I don´t think it was), sooner or later there will be a leak in the US army.
What is 100% sure is that there was never any evidence of a cargo door failure, like "Brick" writes. The popular theory is that fuel tank explosion. Strange thing anyway. One thought I have: why did I never hear something like that from cars. If a fuel tank in a ultra high tech machine like a Boeing 747 can explode, there must be dozens of exploding car fuel tanks every day somewhere in this world.

And one correction in your list, ChucknSteph: Air India flight 182 was destroyed by a bomb (like the Lockerbie-Jumbo). Not by a faulty cargo door.

It was either the fuel tank or a missle.

I discounted the missle theory until someone pointed out testimony of an Air Nat'l Guard flight crew witness statements, 120+ witnesses on the ground, and the oxidizers on the seats. If it was a missle we will never know it. The navy was testing the Aegis missle cruiser to admit it shot down another pax plane would have killed the program which was already under congressional scrutiny and was having significant software problems.

(Prior cases of US nacy shooting down civilian airliners Iran Air A300 and I think a Spanair DC-9)

Someday, probably after everyone involved is dead, the now sealed documents will be declassified: The CIA killed JFK, Bill Clinton will admit to how he screwed us all, and was laughing his ass off the whole time, and that TWA 800 was shot down or sabotoged.
