Alitalia Question

Fri Jul 16, 2004 11:17 am

I'm keen to fly on AZ between FCO and LIN on 3rd Jan 05...

-i'm wondering what a/c are used on the route?

-also where are they flying the EMB170? I would like to travel on this somewhere in Italy if possible!

And.. is AZ the only airline that flies FCO-LIN?

Cheers

AZ flies a mixture of MD-82's and A321's on the FCO-LIN route daily.

I believe there might be other airlines too..but giv ur $$ to AZ!

You may also want to try Air One. In my experience, they have always been less expensive than AZ when I've bought domestic tickets in Italy.

They have good service, and less attitude. Last year I even got Ice Cream on my FCO-LIN flight!

Alitalia744,

Would really like to give my money to AZ, however they are very $$$!!

Think I may travel AirOne..

Look at these price differences..

AirOne
AP 2946 FCO 3 JAN 1600 LIN 1705 - Eur66 (incl tax)

Alitalia (one-way fare)
AZ2080 FCO 3 JAN 1600 LIN 1710 - Eur208 (not incl tax)

Alitalia (return fare)
AZ2080 FCO 3 JAN 1600 LIN 1710 - Eur162 (not incl tax)

If AZ was the same price or maybe 20 Euros more I'd probably still fly with them!

Hi QF744
On LIN/FCO route there is also another carrier called Meridiana (www.meridiana.it); it has now only 5 daily flights for each way but usually it seems to be the cheapest solution ! Fares starting from 9 euro + tax !!
Aircraft on this route is the MD80 family.

About the ERJ170 routes now Alitalia Express has put them on 2 main bases : LIN & FCO for some national (such as Ancona , Brindisi ,....) or international links (such as Dusseldorf , Frankfurt , Wien ..... ). I think now it's too early to know which routes will be operated by ERJ170 in Jan05. You have to hold on for some months. Anyway I think that on LIN/FCO you will find only MD80/32S by AZ!

If you book a midday flight LIN-FCO sometimes you could be lucky to be on an EMB-170.
Since AZ Express uses 170 both from LIN and FCO and the base for maintenance is in FCO, they need to trasfer the plane between the two cities. So in spite of flying empty as ferry flight they put it in the midday flights when there is a lower request.
