Is That Plans For Adds From FLL-DEN On Ted?

Fri Jul 16, 2004 12:40 pm

Hi,

I heard that about Ted will plans additional flight from FLL-DEN this winter time and someone was told me about them. Do you even think F9 will leaving from FLL this fall and after UA will takeover with service to DEN, am correct? Is that they are doing so well on Ted from FLL-DEN and should they need make more service to DEN? If you had any questiono about them and talk with you later!

Regards!

As I pointed out in a previous post, one of F9's highest load factors is on its DEN-FLL flight. They currently operate one round trip a day, and usually up it to two flights daily in the winter months. They haven't announced their winter timetables yet, but their second flight usually runs from Halloween to Easter.

It seems to be one of the most popular rumors on this board that F9 is unhappy with FLL. This rumor seems to have been around since 2002 when F9 began the DEN-FLL flights. From what I can tell, nothing can be further from the truth. They used to be out of gate F10 (they should have secured gate F9  Smile/happy/getting dizzy) in terminal 3, but were moved to gate B6 in terminal 1 with WN sometime in 2003. F9 gets a lot of traffic on this route, especially from DEN passengers heading to Miami and Fort Lauderdale for cruises. If you are in terminal 1 at FLL on any weekend around noon, walk by the F9 ticket line and note how many passengers have luggage tags that read "Princess", "Carnival", "Royal Caribbean", "Celebrity", and "Holland America".

I do not think F9 will leave FLL...the have a very competive schedule to cruises (as opposed to TED which operates 2 hours later), and they have connections around the west. I'd rather pay $200 and transfer in DEN then pay $500 and do a cross country to ORD, IAD, JFK, BOS, ATL, DFW etc... and then on to FLL. NK had no connections in DEN, so I can understand why they didn't do well. I am suprised they didn't make it seasonal instead of just dropping it.

P.S. anynone think it is funny that they have gate B6?

The second daily is already in the winter 2004/05 timetable.

NK had no connections in DEN, so I can understand why they didn't do well.

They did do well. They had excellent load factors on the route. Miamians love to ski like nobody else, and Denverites love to cruise. Perfect traffic mix to fill a plane. The problem was clearly that they had major weight issues, and it was not rare to make a fuel stop. With frequently full loads, with people, a lot of skis, and a lot of luggage, running an M80 on the route was not economical. Neither were DEN's high landing fees.

MAH:

Which airline has a second daily DEN/FLL in the Winter schedule?

As of about two minutes ago, it wasn't in the Frontier booking engine, nor in the latest timetable (October 10) published on the website. Both show 1 x daily DEN/FLL.

If you mean Ted, as of about two minutes ago, the UAL website booking engine showed 1 x daily non-stop DEN/FLL.

Is there some other timetable?

cheers
