Has anyone noticed the similarity? Perhaps I should get out more!  Big grin

I think any similarity is strictly coincidental. I doubt Boeing would want to reach this far into the past for inspiration. Someone else commented that the Embraer EMB-190 looks like a mini-7E7 but I hardly think Embraer had spies within Boeing so as to replicate that design in miniature, just as I hardly think that Boeing would scale up the EMB-190 design to become the 7E7. As the disclaimer in movies goes (when pertaining to film characters vs. real people), any resemblance is PURELY coincidental.

I don't see "that" much of a resemblance at all with the Comet / Caravelle . There are some great Boeing noses like the B17, B29 and 707/27/37 nose. Then came the widebodies the DC-10, L1011 and the airbuses and these noses are boring. Sure they are functional. . .

But when you are parking a Gulfstream it is kinda cool to see that beak pointing at you. Somehow it makes you less skeptical that this loud hunk of metal can fly. . .

I think the 7E7 will be cool in that respect too. . .

I do not see much of a resemblance except for the curvature part of the desing.

Maybe it just shows that the Comet/Caravelle nose/tail desing was a great one in its time of inception when it was thought off in the 50's, and has finally been validated and demonstrated now with all the advancements in desing, engineering and aerodymics.
