Here we don;t get too many rarities. We used to get SV to JFK with the 743's.

Apparently, you still do. Or, SV hasn't updated their route map. Just discovered that they actually flew to Orlando/MCO today. There are about a dozen pictures of their 747-400 here in the database, actually.

Well... there have been the off days we've seen a US A-330, PACE 737-200s, Miami Air 737s (which are just cool), Planet 727s, HeavyLift AN-124, DL MD-90s (kinda rare for Florida service), UPS DC-8, ATI DC-8 cargo (DC-8s rule)...
Back in the day (1999-2000) NW 747-200s operated MCO-DTW...

These days we must be the nationwide leader in 737-NGs with winglets... Southwest, Copa, Miami Air, Aeromexico, Westjet...

SV haven't operated MCO for quite a few years now...

Delta brings the MD-90 in twice a day from DFW. The ATI DC-8 goes up to ATL during the week and then on to points north. Last night whilst consuming a beverage at the new Ale House on 436, I saw a FedEx MD-11 on approach to 18R. That was an upgrade to the usual DC10/MD10 service.

Another rarity was the fire below the shuttle between the main terminal and the Delta Satellite. While going back to the main terminal, both shuttle arrived the Satellite and would't leave. In the meantime, more flights arrived and people got somewhat stucked in the satellite for like 30 minutes until secutity officials decided to open up the alley so that everone could walk to the Main Terminal. And it happened both ways. I overheard people saying that they never had seen the shuttle together stopped in one place in more than 5 years!

A one-time MCO rarity happened back in October of 1982. Disney was opening the Epcot Center, and both an AF and a BA Concorde had been chartered to fly the British and French delegations in. The a/c were scheduled to arrive fairly close together, and as the aircraft approached MCO, the pilots worked out a simultaneous touchdown on 18R and 18L. I have a photo of the touchdown taken by an Orlando Sentinel photog, but the paper will not permit it to be posted on this site due to copyright policies. I have asked, but was refused.
