AWA's 737's

This may have been on here before so forgive me for asking this again

When is America West replacing there 737's I know they the 737-200 and the -300 and those jets are getting old?

Also will they replace them with airbus jets or will they buy more boeing jets

Adam727, I think they are going to slowly phase out the -300s, and the -200's will be gone by next year (or so I heard from an HP employee).

Please don't fly NW if you think the 733s/732s are old.

Been discussed, almost to death, but I'll give you the reader's digest version.

737-200s are on their way out. Should be all gone in 2005. 737-300s will be handled on an aircraft by aircraft basis based on lease expirations, heavy checks and the like. But there are still 40 some odd 733s in the fleet. America West recently ordered 20 some new A319s and A320s with deliveries beginning next year.

As HP is in a growth mode and there are not any large new orders yet, the 733s will be around for a while to come. But as the fleet is a rag tag bunch of older 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and maybe even 4th hand frames... sooner or later they will go.

Yes, the 732's should be gone by early 2005. The 733 fleet of 37, as DesertJets said, will be evaluated on a one at a time basis.

It's hard to say. In a previous webcast, CEO D. Parker said that they were looking at both Boeing and Airbus.

However, they have yet to add another Boeing jet to the fleet. Four previously unannounced A320's have been added (601AW, 602AW, 603AW, and 604AW). This is outside of the recent Airbus order.

On a recent flight from CUN on HP, the pilot told me they were looking to add two planes a month.
