CO To Start EWR-RNO

Wed Jul 21, 2004 11:01 pm

Haven't seen this one mentioned. Looks like Continental Airlines will offer new Saturday Newark-Reno service this winter:

CO 1074 EWR 1900-2138 RNO _____6_ 73G
CO 1075 RNO 2330-0658+1 EWR _____6_ 73G

Service operates 18 December through 2 April.

Also, Saturday non-stop service to Tucson returns for a longer season this winter, 6 November through 2 April.

Good week for Reno. Delta to Atlanta, Continental to Newark, and AA will start daily one-stop RNO-MIA service with no change of plane on 1 November.

It also appears that this route will receive the Transcontinental service standard, which is what I was hoping for as soon as I heard rumors of this route, as it would be pretty long not to have the upgraded meal service and staffing. Only downfall is that the return is a red-eye, with "lights-out" service in the FC cabin and beverages and pretzels in back.

Reno must being doing well. I noticed UA was also operating a 757 on one of the morning flights. Good size plane for a short hop. Also, rumor was that the CRJ's would be replaced with CR7's once more were provided from Skywest.

That's awesome. I'm sure RNO will enjoy that!! I'm glad they brought back the TUS flight as well...it did very well this past year. It was daily during the Xmas season...wonder if they will do that again.

Glad to see the addition of RNO and the return of TUS. Lets hope we see daily TUS again for the Christmas travel period. It would be able to take a N/S to EWR instead of having that dreaded connection in IAH.

THEY operate a red-eye! Yet, no redeye for DL?

How does jetBlue do their redeye 1X daily service, do they fly a crew in, or does the crew spend the night?

I think CO could start direct service from EWR to just about anywhere and make money! That airport's market is RED HOT!

What about a CLE-RNO on a 737 or 738?
