MCI Terminal C

Thu Jul 22, 2004 1:22 am

When I was there the other day, I noticed some wierd things including:

With the exception of Customs, everything on the left portion of the terminal is abandoned.

There is an AA MD-80 in one of those abandoned gates.

Info please!

Thanx

The MCI renovation should be wrapping up soon. They've been closing off sections of each building and renovating them for the past few years. That would explain the "abandoned" areas.

I was at MCI back in November, and they were remodeling the last section of each terminal. I have to think they'd be almost done by now, if they aren't done already. My Southwest flight arrived into one of the "old" sections - the wooden floors were worn down to floorboards. The remodeled sections were definitely much fresher looking.

The new sections are BEAUTIFUL.

I think the SWA area is one of the few remaining areas to be worked over and should be done early 05.

I don't remember who was going into the eastern end of C.

The eastern part of Terminal C is complete. Right now it is up to the Aviation Dept to attract some new tenants. As of right now I believe there are 7 gates that are vacated. Hopefully once the economy improves we might see the likes of jetBlue, Independence Air, ATA, Spirit, etc. As of right now though, everything is complete with the exception of SWA in Terminal B.

If I remember correctly one of the reasons for the renovation and airline moves was to have all the vacent gates in the same area, thus easier to market if an airline wanted all of them.

Did Southwest move at MCI? I flew in and out of MCI at the end of March on Southwest and we flew in and out of a renovated section. It is really nice, so much brighter and more friendly than the old...

I believe that a lot of times AA parks their aircraft there to accommodate future flights during the day. Other than that I am not so sure.
