The man was not challenged by airport security, despite an alarm that went off on an exit door, until three Delta employees spotted him driving a baggage tractor in his pajamas.
These stories just get more weird by the day. A security breech: What would a week on A.net be without one?

Check out that second photo on the news page, I do not think I have seen that many widgets in a few years!  Laugh out loud

Dam'n, isn't that a fairly far distance from A councourse to the DL mx facilities? At least he didn't get through armed, but still a big concern! As Srbmod said, some major finger pointing ahead!

Look at that Delta file photo. There's an L10-11 in it. Get some updated pictures.

Well, we certainly have not seen those around at ATL lately.  Wink/being sarcastic

Fox in New York just reported another security breach, but this time it was apparently the 9/11 hijackers who did not get searched after setting of the metal detectors.

No links yet.  Insane

I will tell you that if the alarm goes off between 3-5am, it needs to be checked out! The only people out on the tarmac at that time are maintence and the occasional cleaning crew. Except for charter instances, there are not flights then! I think that there was probably no employee in the area at that time of night and thus, noone heard an alarm. However, I think this falls in airport hands as well. Espically in an airport like ATL there should be security patrolling 24/7/365! It will be very interesting to see the report on this one, who was there and if anyone even tried to stop him.

I do know that they are doing some construction in terminal A in ATL. I saw it the other night when I was there waiting for my DL flight that was supposed to leave at 23:30 but didn't leave till 1AM, anyway the alarms were constantly going off because the construction workers were going in and out of the doors and no one seemed to care so I can see how it is possible.

No it was my DL flight on the 15th of July to RSW that departed from A29 and was 1-1/2 hours late so I had nothing better to do then watch the construction people put up ceiling tile and sprinkler pipes and walk in and out of the doors with the alarms going off. Had to go to RSW for a little vacation, and to swipe some flight safety cards off the 757!!!

I didn't think I would be the first one to say something about the pictuers. I thought it was an actual picture of the guy and then I saw all the T tails and that Tri-star!

I was working last night when this happened. I work in the bay next to were he was finally stopped. A couple of mechanics saw him and stopped him. They asked him for ID and then lead him into the office while waiting for ATL PD to arrive. I saw him as they were hauling him off. I gues the guy got on the concourse because he had a ticket. Went through the door on 'A' concourse and jumped on a bag tug. No telling how log he drove around. The distance from 'A' to the TOC is maybe a mile down the taxiway. Everyone is wondering how he got that far.

We got an update from the arresting officer tonight. Seems the guy has been having a lot of problems at home and kind of fell off the deep end. There have been a lot of unstable people making the news here lately. In the last cople of months there have 4 or 5 attempts of bridge jumping.

After my last longer stay at ATL, meaning passing security twice in the process, I am not very surprised that this could happen. The TSA-"agents" were the least professional bunch of people I have ever seen. 15 year old kids at McDonald's have a more professional attitude.
Where have all the tri-jets gone...

That's quite a ride, but perfectly believable if nobody heard the door alarm going off. Those things are loud, sure, but if the terminal was deserted in the area, or construction workers had other alarms going off, it's quite possible nobody even noticed him slip out.

Baggage carts/tugs/etc don't have keys?

And ... doesn't going from A Concourse to the Delta TOC mean he went past B, C, D, and E concourses on the way?

I can't imagine someone in a tower missed the set of headlights zipping down the road !

No keys, just an on/off ignition switch.

As for the old file photos, all of the media in Atlanta have outdated file photos. The AJC has run one file photo several times that shows a Delta a/c in the Ron Allen livery, an ASA EMB-120 (in the bare metal livery), and an AirTran DC-9.

I don't mean to burst anyone's bubble, but when one of those door alarms go off, people don't come running. They should, but they don't.
