Persian Gulf Order Overkill?

Sat Jul 24, 2004 10:43 pm

Will there really be enough O & D passengers and/or will there be sufficient transit traffic through the Gulf States to support the kind of fleets anticipated by the aircraft orders of the Gulf State airlines?

I am confident in Emirates and you only need to consider their passenger growth figures from 10 years ago until today.

As for Qatar Airways, I am a bit spektical. To me it seems like their aircraft orders and maniac expansion is one heck of an expensive advertising campaign which the State of Qatar can afford (look at their booming revenues generated from natural gas projects).

Etihad is an overkill, yes. Read previous threads about Etihad for my opinion.

To be honest, given the projected growth in air travel, these guys are reading the numbers and making sure they will have planes to meet demand.
