Flight Attendant Age Limits

Tue Jul 27, 2004 12:21 am

How old do you have to be to start working for Northwest as a Flight Attendant? Do you have to have any college degrees or something like that? Curious.

Generally speaking for America, you have to be at least 18 and need to have experience in the field.

College degree is preferred, a second language is a must I think, 18 or 19 with prior customer service. Of course, Northwest isn't hiring...

Because alcohol is served on the flights, 21 is usually the age minimum.

21 yrs of age is the min. As explained above that it is the minimum age to be able to serve alcoholic drinks in the US, and at least a high-school diploma. 2nd language proficiency is preferred.

21 is the age for NWA, since f/a 's are still laid off at nwa it may be some time before they start to hire. Spirit is hiring 250 f/a's go to spiritair.com for open house info.

Correction:

Unless NW changed the minimum age requirement for their flight attendants, I recall their last recruiting information stating 20 years of age. I believe the last time they recruited for flight attendants was in late 2000, or early 2001. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong).  Smile

Minimum age requirements for flight attendants in the U.S. vary from carrier to carrier. Of course, 18 would definitely have to be the minimum.

At Frontier, the age is 21. At Skywest, it's 19. UA- 19 also (though they haven't hired F/A's in a while). WN and CO are 20. I believe 18 is as junior the minimum hiring age is, while 21 is the highest minimum age requirement in the U.S.

I hope this helps.

AS has a strict requirement of being 21 not only for the alcohol service, but also for going through international boundries, from what Ive been told by an AS F/A and a recruiter.
