Air & Space Magazine

Tue Jul 27, 2004 9:51 pm

The latest issue of Smithsonian's "Air & Space" magazine contains several articles on topics recently discussed here on A.net. Maybe there's an A.netter on their editorial board.

1. The demise of the Beech Starship
2. An article on cellphone use in aircraft
3. The mystery of Pan Am 944, a Boeing 377 enroute SFO-HNL
4. A small article on the Evergreen 747 firebomber

1. The demise of the Beech Starship
They are probably interested in the demise, as we are.

2. An article on cellphone use in aircraft
This has been a common debate for quite some time now.

3. The mystery of Pan Am 944, a Boeing 377 enroute SFO-HNL
Re-visiting plane crashes is a common theme of magazines.

4. A small article on the Evergreen 747 firebomber
Magazines usually cover interesting airplanes.

While I would be surprised to know that someone from the magazine might be on the forums, I doubt that they get their ideas from here. For the record, I do not remember any of those topics.  Big grin

Great magazine. I especially liked the article on the Pan Am 944......It would be VERY interestin if, when they open the archives at the University of Miami, the NTSB reopens the investigation....Stay tuned

Of course, I also like the Rolex watch ads!  Smile

SafetyDude,

All of these topics, with the possible exception of the Pan Am Clipper one, have been discussed within the last few months, and as you said, the cellphone issue repeatedly. I just thought it a little unusual that there were so many recently discussed topics in one issue of the magazine.
