I recall hearing that Delta was prepared to make a big announcement on July 28 regarding their future and what the "new" Delta is going to look like. Does anybody know what is going to happen or come of this? Grinstein might have some tricks up his sleeve but it might not all be good news.
Some sample ideas:
- Possible closing of DFW as a hub or focus city
- Future of Song
- Re-branding of Delta domestic and international services
- Expansion of regional markets and deletion or reduction of some mainline service
- Agreement with pilots union regarding concessions and future wage packages
I will gladly admit that I have been on here for months predicting the end of Song. As a unit, it has not been making money - I am not backing down from this "inside" information based on performance and estimated load factors. But the reality of Song is that is does a lot of things better than regular coach Delta, so there is something to be said for that. Will tomorrow mark the end of Song or will Song be expanded to cover more of Delta's domestic mainline service, effectively remaking DL into a LCC-style airline within the USA? Or will status-quo prevail?
For once, I can honestly say I do not know. I would not be surprised to see Song go but at this point I would not be shocked to see the Song brand become the "new" Delta either, at least domestically.
Finally, I don't even know if this announcement is going to be internally or externally distributed. I am hoping some DAL crewmembers on here will post any info immediately after it is disseminated but that remains to be seen.
If anyone has any knowledge, please share!
