AA 767-200 On EWR-LAX Run

Wed Jul 28, 2004 11:07 am

OK, when I spotted this a week or two ago in Flight Explorer, I thought it was just a one time equipment substitution, but I just saw this AGAIN.

AA is currently (as in right now) operating flight 119 EWR-LAX with a 767-200, while their timetable has a 757 listed.

Anybody know what's up with this? Is this *hopefully* a sign of things to come on the EWR-LAX-EWR route?

I know AA has been running a 762 on and off over the last year or so on the EWR-LAX route.

I have noticed a 762 on this route on-and-off for some time now.

I know that AA has switched the 757s to routes that are more leisure oriented (ORD-LAS) or compete against LCCs (DFW-BWI). So the fact that a 757 flight between EWR and LAX now operates with a 767-200 isn't surprising.

The past few days the 757s have been in a state of disarray, therefore there have been quite a few substitutions. At LAX, when a 757 goes out of service there is a high chance a 767 will be substituted, as AA keeps a 767 (and not a 757) spare at LAX.

AA has no current plans to run a 767-200 LAX-EWR on a regular basis. The 767-200s stay quite busy doing LAX & SFO to JFK.

Thanks for the info AAnalyst. What has been causing the 757s to be in a state of disarray?

It happened again! AA 114 LAX-EWR is another 762. I'm starting to like this "state of disarray" as AAnalyst put it!
