Best Europe - NRT Flight?

Wed Jul 28, 2004 9:23 pm

We're going to Japan later this year on an extended holiday, Economy class. As there is no direct connection OSL - NRT, we have to connect in Europe.
What airline would you choose, and why?

And if SK (for those of you who chose them), should we use our bonus points to upgrade to Economy plus? Is it worth the price? (costs us 10 000 points one way per head).....
All help appreciated....

Matt,
Thanks for advising, but I think not.

I was kicked out from Polls and prefs for posting similar. Told to go here. And if you bother to check, I'm sure you'll find this kind of thread is often posted here. This is where we get help.

Maybe you should read a few posts before you offer advice?

Aeroflot of course!
Shouldn't be expensive... and depending on aircraft used actually not a bad experience (I flew them Hong Kong to Moscow on a B767-300 last week and was thoroughly impressed although, mind you, the inflight "entertainment" is horrendous, if the screens actually work).
Just remember the rule of thumb with Aeroflot: "Smile at them and they'll smile back at ya".

"If we are not smiling, then it's because we are working hard to make you smile!"

Hi Caravelle,

Have you ever tried Finnair? You can easily take AY656 from Oslo and enjoy the comfortable Airbus equipment of Finnair and see the landing to Helsinki from the screens above you provided by the camera in the fuselage. You will be at 15:30 in Helsinki and you have almost two hours to enjoy the fresh and peaceful airport of Helsinki-Vantaa. At 17:20 your flight to Narita as AY073 will start and the magnificent MD-11 will be your home in the sky for 12 hours. You will see the beautiful sunrise over Siberia and enjoy the good food and drinks onboard. You will arrive in Narita in the morning so you have plenty of time to do some shopping during the day aswell as you are so relaxed after the nice flight! And it is also cheap too to fly with AY! Worth checking some details of this option!

Thanks Neder99 and Finnair MD 11,
I've been to Vantaa, and it is one of my favourite airports. And it makes sense going east when going east. So Moscow might also be an option, and much preferable to going CPH, AB) (FRA / FRF / EDDF), Germany">FRA, CDG or LHR. But what is SU service like to NRT? Or AY? And compared to SK through CPH?
