IB increases its benefits by 157% during the first semester of 2004.

Would IB be something like a LCC for BA in the next future?. Why so many problems with other european companies but apparently not for IB?.

Regards,
DME

Well first thing NO we're not going to become BA's LCC.  Confused As for Why is IB doing so well? I think the article had answered well enough. Lower cost, more pax. A good combination for an airline. And as an employee I would also add an increase in productivity. Big grin

Thanks for posting this; by the way, a better translation (just my opinion) of the word "beneficios" is "earnings." Good numbers, especially as costs are rising substantially slower than revenue, which is a very positive sign. Nevertheless, in most other industries this kind of result (77.3 million Euro of earnings on 2.3 billion Euro of revenue) would hardly be noteworthy, but in the airline business, it seems very strong.

Interesting that the article does note that yields are also down.

While I have no inside information or contacts, it seems that Iberia has been particularly disciplined over the last few years on cutting costs and increasing margins. As a fairly regular and certainly long-time flyer of them, I can certainly attest that service has also improved considerably over the last few years.

Another good article on the subject is at (Spanish only):
