Don't really have any good concrete answers, but my guess would be fairly soon(hopefully they will replace some of the ancient DC9s with them! Sorry I couldn't help myself Big grin) Sorry that's as specific as I can be because I'm honestly not very sure.

No yet for firm orders of CRJ-700 with NW and you probably will wait for the future with the NW pilots make decision of their regional jet. Sorry, if you try to find something else with those information.

Hehe good way to mask a DC-9 retirement thread.  Big thumbs up

To clarify, I wouldn't think they would need anything of that size when thay have a load of DC-9s in the fleet.

Many superior designs of this size range are coming in the next few years. The Embraer 170 is just the start. Many of these planes could also be used as a basis for a DC-9 replacement, or be used in other ways as a mainline aircraft. The CRJ-700 is a regional jet with regional jet comfort, cargo capacity and range. Its new competitors offer mainline comfort, cargo or baggage capacity, range and probably superior economics as well. It would probably be foolish to order the -700 aircraft at this point unless they are offered a very steep discount.

It appears that NW is interested in the new C-Series of Bombardier aircraft. Or more likely, BBD is trying to get NW very interested. But they are a good five years away.

A CR7 in NW livery? Sweet!

Nothing will happen until the contract is signed, thats for sure. I'm sure NW can convert CRJ440 orders into 700's without much problem. Personally I'm hoping for the E-170. Just rode a 50 seater DTW-SAV, and it's just not a comfortable airplane for that long. Neither the wife nor I are that big, and with the armrest up there was just enough room for us. Just.... Even an Avro would've been an improvement. Besides, Mesaba seems to do a better job than Pinnacle, IMO....
