Air Conditioned Jetways

Sat Jul 31, 2004 12:57 pm

When I flew out of IAD several weeks ago, I noticed the jetway to my plane was air conditioned. I was told many of IAD's jet bridges are climate controlled for your comfort. I also visited Dew Bridges and they indeed offer air conditioning as an option. Are there many jetways with A/C? This may seem frivolous but, your average jetway is an enclosed tin can which gets quite toasty during the summer and freezing during the winter. And, I wonder if the MAA (Maryland Aviation Authority) will live large and splurge on air conditioning on the new concourse A jetways that will be the showcase for the kingdom of WN at BWI?

Jetways with A/C are pretty common. Mostly because the A/C units are used to cool the aircraft(The big yellow-black tubes). So running a few ducts into the Jetway itself is no big deal.
