Used Aircraft Seats

Sat Jul 31, 2004 3:10 pm

Ok guys,
now this might seem weird, but I have been doing lots of searching, and have come up empty handed, so I am resorting to all of you to help me out in my quest. I am seriously looking for a used aircraft seat. Whether it be a coach class seat, a first class seat, or even a seat out of a cockpit, can anyone point in the direction of locating one. Also how much do they usually run??? Thanks a lot for you help!!
oh and one thing, it has to be out of a airliner, no Cessna seats or anything!

Where do you live? If you are in the southwest, try the boneyards. I don't think you would want to buy a serviceable one. (big bucks). But if you do, try BE Aerospace, or Recaro for starters.

Its impossible to get serviceable airline seats. Airlines have spares as back-ups in their interior shops when an aircraft goes into a check.

Your best bet is at the graveyards. Most of the seats in a/c sitting at the graveyards are probably unserviceable parts.

Ebay would be your best bet. For example (not meant as advertisement or endorsement):

Great stuff to be found, bought a Convair 990 airspeed indicator last week which made my year.

www.regentaerospace.com may be able to help you. They refurbish seats for airlines.

If you are interested in buying a seat from a Lufthansa aircraft, please contact:

Lufthansa-Sitzverkauf

Telefon: +49 (0)172-6729753
E-Mail: juergen.rumstig@dlh.de

There is also this website here about used Lufthansa seats:

http://cms.lufthansa.com/fly/de/de/shp/0,4976,0-0-769385,00.html

for Example: 2 current (not the new) long-haul Business Class seats = 2,500 € (excluding tax)

or: 3 current short-haul leather Economy Class seats = 930 € (excluding tax)

Why don't more airlines sell their unneeded aircraft seats? It could be a good source of revenue for them!

Aircraft seats are often sold back (or traded) to the manufacturer for refurbishment. For instance, these are former DL Business Class seats (when DL had three classes).

Hi,
I have the answer for you.

www.interface-av.com. Contact Alma Medina, she is a VP there. They have one of the largest seat warehouses in the world. They have a facility in Hollister, CA, and one in Germany.

I purchased a pair of United F class seats (Weber 7501 from 747) sleeper type. Interface sold them to me in "as removed" condition. They did some reconditioning work, reinforcing the seating surfaces, cleaning the seat covers, etc. The seat set will cost around $600 per chair, so a double seat set will cost $1200, plus shipping. She shipped mine to Seattle for about $240.00.

If you are in the market for coach seats or business class seats, you definitely will get them for less. I wanted a first class seat with the electric legrests. They did not provide me the power source for it, I am doing that myself. I have access to Boeing engineers who are working the power solution for me.

If you give me your location and your e-mail directly, on the side, I'd be happy to call Alma for you and get a quote on what you need (I have to call her for a couple of pages from the maintenance manual). Otherwise, you can go on the web and get their phone off their website.

They have over 250,000 seats in their warehouse in Hollister, so I would imagine that you should be able to find a seat you need.

FYI..they also have galley carts, lavs, etc. They are a licensed FAA repair station (out in the middle of nowhere), they restore seats, galley equipment and lavs and sell them to the secondary market.

Hope this helps and if you would like me to call for you, no problem, just send me your e-mail and I will contact you on the side. Be prepared to tell me what airline, class of service, aircraft, etc., as seats are built differently for each a/c.

Kind regards,
