Speculations On Other Airlines Serving RDU-BDL?

Sat Jul 31, 2004 4:30 pm

Any speculation on other airlines serving this route?
Currently, there are four Eagle flights and two of those are on the little 135's.

Midway ran this route six times a day and it was always packed.
Oh how I miss Midway Airlines. A class act right to then end.

Well, Midway's hub was at RDU, so that makes sense. Is RDU-BDL any kind of O&D market??
Finally made it to an airline mecca!

The only other airline I could see going into that market would be Delta or Delta Connection. Of course with the way they are at the moment, I wouldn't except anything in the near future.

RDU-BDL averages about 284 passengers a day. I think AE is doing a good job. Plus with N/S service to BOS, PVD, and NY.. all areas around BDL are covered. I couldn't see another airline on that route any time soon. Unless RDU was to become another focus city.

The only other possibility I would see would be WN, but I don't think that will happen for a while, as there are other destinations (PHX, HOU, FLL) that would probably get service before RDU.

Agreed, I don't see WN on the RDU-BDL route either. I think AE pretty much has it covered for the time being.

Yeah because of AA's mini hub, and the industries around the Raleigh area AA's got the O/D and connecting traffic covered. I flew the route back in Nov 2002 and the flight down and back to RDU were full, I was happy to see. On arrival to RDU they announced a few connections so people were taking advantage of that.

My only complaint with the AE service is that they only fly the RJ's. I am a large man - 6'3"-260- and I always fly F/J whenever I fly anywhere. This has nothing to do with better service and everything to do the size of the seats. I have flown tooooooo many flights on the RJ's and it is not a comfortable ride.
