PanAm And Laker Airways

Mon Aug 02, 2004 4:10 am

This Friday and Saturday there are a number of PanAm flights from Fort lauderdale to Nassau, which are available for reservations, but not listed on their site. Also, Laker Airways lists one of their future destinations as Boston via Portsmouth. In my mind, it looks like PanAm and Laker are moving closer... PanAm staring flights to Nassau and Laker to Portsmouth. What are the chances we see a little partnership or something of that sort?

Over the cold dead body of Sir Freddie!  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

Seriously though, PanAm was one of the carriers which helped drive Laker out of business. Fred is renowned for his principle of never forgiving someone who did him wrong, so just the name alone would probably mean he wouldn't do business with PanAm of any flavour as it might attract bad press.

I doubt anything would happen, but perhaps Sir Freddie would love to control the Pan Am name as a final stamp of who beat out who.

Does PanAm still fly only with B727's?

Two things.

The current Pan Am had nothing to do with forcing Lake Airways out of business. Pan Am of today is related in name only.

And yes, Pan Am flies only 727's. They have a commuter partner, but Pan Am "mainline" is 727 only.
Tired of airline bankruptcies....EA/PA/TW and finally DL.
