Questions 4 BA CS At JFK&LHR

Fri Aug 06, 2004 12:41 am

Hello everyone

My wife and I are flying from JFK-LHR on Feb 15 (BA0174) and back on Feb 23(BA0115). I have 2 questions.

1) What is the likelihood that the flight will be full? And if it is, what is the best way to approach a customer service rep. to volunteer our seats.

2) If it is not full, what is the best way to ask about getting a better seat?

I am a Southwest Airline employee but flying on purchased tickets.

Thanks for any help.

Most of the BA JFK-LHR flights get pretty full, but with quite a few flights, they are usually able to upgrade passengers to avoid having that happen. You could ask right away at check-in if they need volunteers, but I doubt that it will happen, even with you traveling in the midst of the Presidents' Day Weekend in the US.

February is not a busy time (usually the best time to get cheap transatlantic tickets) - so the chances of the flight being full are remote. You are on a web fare plus you aren't a BA Exec card holder (I checked yr PNR) so upgrade chances are nil, zip, nada.

If by better seats you meant in the same cabin, the seatmap is not full up yet

You can probably change your seat assignment on BA.com

It's way to soon to know how full the flight is going to be - ask again in 6 months.... Big thumbs up

He is traveling around the weeks of Presidents' Day Weekend in the US, which is a time when a lot of families take a quick trip.

So far all BA flights that day are across the board 9's, so the flights aren't too full just yet.

It's rare that volunteers are needed for economy out of JFK. It does happen, primarily during the summer, but I wouldn't count on it during the winter months.

The best thing to do is of course, check in on line for the best seat assignments. However, editing is done about 48 hours prior to a flight, at which point, most of the 'best' economy seats are pre-assigned to Gold/Silver ECH members, i.e. exit rows seats.

swatpamike,

these seats are ok - its a 3x4x3 config, and you're ten rows from the back.

You'll be glad to know 44C is not occupied both ways (yet!)
