Qantas - Which Cities Does It Stand For

Fri Aug 06, 2004 3:23 am

Qantas, probably the airline, the most times get written wrong! Quantas  Laugh out loud ,even other airlines, newspapers, etc. use the U after Q
but for what different cities does it stand for?
Q = Queensland?
A =
N =
T =
A =
S = Sydney?

regards,
chris

Well, you got the first letter right...

The wording may be slightly off here, but my understanding is that it is an acronym for:

Queensland
And
Northern
Territories
Aerial
Services

It think it's officially Qantas Airways, Ltd. now. The airline is based in Sydney, though you can trace it's founding to Longreach, which is a VERY small town in Queensland, northwest of Brisbane.
And the winner for best actress is....REESE WITHERSPOON for 'Walk the Line'!!!!!!!!

ChrisZRH:
although this has been discussed many times b4, your idea is kinda interesting:
let Q stand for queensland, N stand for new south wales, T could stand for tasmania then, S doesn't stand for sydney as it is a city, but south australia.
forget about the A's as they can always mean "and"
the added U sound by media could be regarded as a w sound stands for west australia. Oh, one of the A's could mean ACT.
then, there is a very good reason for them to keep p**sing off melbourne as there is no V in the name.
