I wonder if any MAJOR airlines in the U.S will match these fares and once again will resume the fare war in the US.

While the last thing the industry needs is another fare war, there are signs that this is exactly what is going to happen......the US carriers added a lot of capacity this summer (most of which will remain - the airlines do not want to park airplanes again), and as we move into the traditionally slow Autumn travel season (especially the months of Sept and Oct), airlines are looking for ways to keep the seats fill.....the announcement by AA is not the first, JetBlue is also offering seats at bargain prices during the Autumn period.

What I find really amusing is when Continental has a sale. I purchased a flight on Continental website this summer flying to MSP-MEM-OKC-MEM-MSP using NWA's aircrafts on entire trip. The sale price was $187 but at the same time you price out the exact same flight on NWA.com it was around $300. Go figure.

Well, the rest of the boys wouldn't go along with the fare hike so AA's going to punish them with a fare sale. Take that!TC

The funny part about this is NW announced their fall sale a few days before AA.

With OIL projected to go as high as $50 a barrel, they may wish they had never made this announcement.
