Island Air Increases DASH-8 Fleet

"HONOLULU -- Island Air got off to a rough start as the state's third independent air carrier earlier this summer. Now, it hopes its maintenance problems are a thing of the past.

Right after Aloha Airlines cut its ties to Island Air and sold the airline, the new owners announced plans to double its fleet.

A 37-seat Haviland DASH-8 aircraft arrived Wednesday. It's the first of five new planes Island Air plans to put into service in the next two months....."

Saw this on the 10pm evening news. Quite interesting, after all the local Honolulu TV news stations were reporting, on how frustrating it has been to travel Island Air due to frequent and multiple hour delays that have been plaguing them due to mx issues.... They had some passenger interviews on Molokai and Lanai in which the passengers looked totally steamed as 4-5 hours delays were commonplace in the past month.....
