I believe that Brazilian company OceanAir's offer was more valuable. In any case, I don't think it is a fait accompli because the bankruptcy court in the U.S. needs to authorize the transaction (although that may have happened already... I was away from home and from a.net most of July and something could have happened then).

EddieDude basically hit on the nail. Several proposals were made, between which Synergy/OceanAir's bid was selected by Avianca as the best one.
I think the judge is supposed to approve the plan this or next month, I really don't know for sure. But, until then, Continental or any other company that wishes to make business with AV may still dig in and make second -more attractive- bid.
