not everyone only decides upon price, some people look for standard
I think it's great BA
finally allowed us to top-up our mileage account. Regardless of how cost-ineffective it is, when im 10K miles short, I sure would find buying miles would be cheaper than to fly another 10K miles to earn it.
Consider this. I'm 10K short for a free J class ticket to JFK
(which requires 80K from LHR
). I pay 160 pounds plus their processing fee of 15 for a total of 175 pounds.
Now, where on earth can I fly to for 175 pounds and get 10K deposited into my Exec Club account?
Flylondon. you make a valid point when using LON-PAR as an example. In that case, it's not worth the cost. However, this was made for the long-haul traveller in mind. To use redemption tickets and top-up for those long haul flights intended. If its long-haul, you'll end up topping-up at a MUCh cheaper rate than flying once (or even twice) to get that missing amount (in this case 10K).
I think it's a good move afterall which could prove helpful to some of us who sometimes find themselves just falling short of a 'freebie'
