A321 Differences

Sadly I will have to take an A321 on my next trip and while I was looking through the database, I noticed that there is a 100 and 200 modell. If anyone could give me a quick heads up on the differences, that'd be great!

Where have all the tri-jets gone...

The -100 was the original did not have the range that many customers desired, so a -200 version with uprated CFM56-5B3 or V2533-A5 engines, heavier landing gear, and extra fuel capacity. This model has been much more sucessful.

Hey, whats so sad about taking the A321? At least you are getting a chance to fly and that is the most important thing...  Smile

Just to add a few more specs:

-A321-200 was designed to be able to handle North American transcons (flights up to about 5.5 hrs)
-A321-100 has performance that is more suitable to European operators (flights of about 4 hrs or less)

AC and US have some of the highest gross weight A321-200s available, thrust about 32,000 lbs per engine. My last flight on the A321 YYZ-YYC was full but the a/c still rotated after only about 25 sec - very impressive power. Completely the oppositte of what I was expecting.

There is NO visible difference between the A321-100 and -200. Both models have the same winglets, doors, etc...

It depends on the airline you are flying on...

Air France is operating 5 A321-100 (F-GMZA,B,C,D,E), ex-Air Inter planes, used on the Domestic network only. All the other ones are -200.

ANA, Swiss, LH and AZ operates mainly -100, while OS, IB, TAP, BA, MEA, BMI, Aer Lingus operate -200.
Most North American carriers operates the -200

A question in my mind;

I read in an article that Swiss A321s (even A320s maybe) had modifications on the engines, to meet some noise levels etc. However, this modification wasn't that successful.

Is this true? Was this modification on all A320 family?
