How do you define that? Value of capital property? Stock Value? Revenue? Profits? I would consider Singapore Air to up there, due their large size, capital ownership of a/c and facilities, stock value, profits.

I think by market value, the top global 3 are Southwest, Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Airways.

I, too, thought you meant by market value... In which case, Southwest would definitely be up at the top of the list. Someone told me they are the only US carrier operating in the black right now; is that true?

I would go for Qatar Airways, Royal Brunei Airlines, etc... They don't earn their money by selling tickets... It seems to me, that it isn't that important how full the planes are, their "Scheichs" have the money to do whatever they like... I can't imagine that Doha is such a big market that Qatar Airways will make money with A380... I worked at the Vienna Int'l Airport in july, and everbody there told me that they haven't seen a full QR-flight once! But the fact is, that they send an A300-600 to VIE... The route of this flight is also unlogical (at least for me...) Doha-Munich-Vienna-Munich-Doha.... wouldn't Doha-Munich-Vienna-Doha be "the same" and wouldn't this way save them a lot of time? (you remember "time is money"...)
I don't want to start a debate about how much sense it makes to fly the route this way, I just want to tell you the reason for my opinion.

So I think these airlines are the richest, at least their owners...

Is Virgin up there at all? They seem to do wel for themselves. I think the richest has got to be either Saudi Arabian or Royal Brunei, but I bet that Emirates is up there too. I just figured maybe Virgin because it is partially (49%?) owned by Singapore Airlines, which I bet is up there on the list too.

I imagine that Saudi Arabian was the richest, or near it, at one point. I grew up on the Saudia City compound in Jeddah, attended the PCS School (Saudia owned), they seemed to ooze money. I returned a few years ago, and Saudia City and the school both seemed run down. What a shame.

I often wondered what loads were like on the Emirates and Qatar flights. Some like the LHR flight, I would think are full, but some of the Euro flights puzzle me.

Singapore is the one name i have heard consistantly being touted as incredibly wealthy including (correct me if im wrong) something about them usually prefering to pay cash for aircraft purchases. What effect the whole Air NewZealand debacle had i dont know however they own a stake in Virgin Atlantic so there sure must be some bucks lying around...

I presume Emirates would also figure in that however...
