I flew with CZECH Airlines on a TU154, from Prague-Zagreb, and Zagreb-Prague. I would have to say it was a bumpy ride and the airplanes are very noisy!!!!!!

I haven't flown in a Russian airliner, but here in San Francisco I will never forget the day I saw a Il-62 at the International Terminal. I thought that this is something I would never see. I think they are a very handsome design(with nod to a VC-10). Now the Il-96 services SFO and I know a guy who swears he can identify its' engine noise as it takes off over his back yard!

I flew on a Cubana TU-154 from Mexico City to Havana a couple of years back. The plane was very noisy, and its run very long before it was airborne. It was obvious that the plane was very old and worn.

Inflight we were given the choice of only wine or Orangina to drink, and this was the only flight I have ever been on where I saw the flight attendants smoking cigarettes in the galley.

Its a great experience! not very comfortable but very different! the seats are usually crap. The galleys and WC are way bigger than western planes.

i have flown:

IL62, TU134, IL 18 on Interflug
TU154 on Malev and Aeroflot

and next month i will try to fly HY IL62, and TU134 and 154 of B2 /BELAVIA

Try it and you will have something to remember, especially the IL62 and TU134

I have flown a 4-engine plane, the IL-18, a couple of times. And i fell sick! It was turbulence from start to final...It was with Romanian airline Tarom and Bulgarian airline Balkan. It was missing acouple of seatbelts, but they served candy before take off...so!

I Flew On LAL's YAK-42

Fri Feb 25, 2000 5:47 am

It very bad plane. It noisy is like formula:
ATR's-72 noisy*3
You can't sit in this plane, because if you fly in this about 5 hours, you have about 50% risk, that you will never heard
I'll don't fly with russian planes. They are very bad
If Boeing is the best, they are the WORST.

AN-22

Fri Feb 25, 2000 7:30 am

I flew on the following:
Antonov
An-124, An-22, An-32, An-24
Ilyushin
IL-18V, IL-18D, IL-62, IL-62M
Tupolev
Tu-134A, Tu-154M
Yakovlev
Yak-40K

The An-22 experience was my best flight ever ! It was awesome. The IL-18 experience was great too.

Oh, yeah...lots of Aeroflot experiences here, as well as Balkan Bulgarian and CSA.

CSA: TU134A3, TU154M
Balkan: TU154B-2
Aeroflot: IL62M, IL86, TU134A-3, TU154B-2, TU154M

I never was worried about flying on Russian planes, though they were noisy, dirty and not comfortable. I think flights on them are a must for any airliner enthusiast!
