CO IAH & EWR Employee Help

Hi:

I am directing this message to any Continental employees that are on here that work in either Newark or Houston.

I am non-reving on August 23 to Amsterdam and am having some issues as to where I am going to go from (EWR or IAH). I was wondering if you all knew the kinds of loads that these two flights take and whether you think I should even try to go.  Smile

Any help from anyone really is appreciated. Im just trying to finalize my travel plans. Thanks for your help.

Currently, CO 46 IAHAMS look much better nonrev wise, then 70 EWRAMS. Granted it's still 10 days out and a lot can change in that time, but for now, IAH would seem to be your best bet.

you should pick the day in IAH where we are runing it twice for the day, I really enjoy flying the 762!!

58 usually runs a little lighter than 46, and 70 is probably the toughest to nail out of the bunch. My wife loves Amsterdam and sometimes we've had to get a little creative in order to get out there, especially in the summer. The second frequency (58/59) two times a week have really helped a great deal in either direction, and is always my second option from 70/71 when available.

Obviously your date is not compatible with the second flight, but 46 looks pretty friendly, 70 will become a little sketchier as the date approaches. At the very least out of EWR there will be some competition; IAH as it stands now is a much safer bet.

I am not an employee for CO, but my parents have a home near Lisboa, Portugal and frequentally travel to vacation. They are CO milage members and always take the IAH-AMS-LIS flight. They have done this 9 times now and have never had any complaints about the size of flight. Coming home they have complained of the new international terminal at EWR. The size of flights is usually heavier through that airport. Hope this helps some.

CO 070 on 23/08 EWR-AMS is still showing all 9s in all classes of service at the moment - even the cheapest tickets - thus there are still a good number of seats available, its still more than a week out, but it looks promising. CO 070 is a 777. Out of EWR, as you likely know, there is more choice of transatlantic flights - for example if everything goes wrong, you can take a CO flight to BRU (still showing many seats) or CDG (2 flights) and connect via air or high-speed train back to AMS.

One thing to keep in mind, 23/08 and 24/08 are the first days that the some of the lower fall fares go into effect - hundreds of dollar/euros less than the peak season fares - which sometimes causes higher than usual traffic on these days. I am flying BRU-EWR-FLL on CO on 24/08/2004 for this reason.

Wow guys thanks for the awesome information. Really helpful  Smile Looks like IAH is going to be my airport of choice here. If I dont make it on the 23rd, then I already have backup plans for the 24th, so no worries here.

PS: It is my first time non-reving on an airline other than my own! Oh boy.
