VS 11 21st August And VS 12 28th August

Sat Aug 14, 2004 6:39 pm

What aircraft is going to operate VS 11 LHR-BOS next Saturday 21st August. I know it should be a 744. Also what about VS 12 on 28th August?

The flights you ask about are both due to be flown using B744's fitted with UCS.(not G-VXLG, basically!). Other than that its a little to early to say for certain. The system currently shows G-VBIG for the outbound but likely to change. No a/c assigned for the return as yet.

Is G-VBIG still flying VS 11 on 21st August? Has any a/c been assigned to VS 12 on 28th August?

All I know is that when I plan on taking VS from BOS>LHR in January its scheduled to be an A340, any chance that would be a -600?????

The A340-600 was in Boston I want to say on Sunday. I stood 15 feet from it and was awed. The boat was G-VOGE.

And I thought it left pretty empty. I have never EVER seen a plane thunder down a runway so fast (15R).

WOW  Love

It looks like it is going to be a -300, but someone from VS might be able to confirm that.

The boat was G-VOGE
Ship, not boat, and even then, "ship" should not be used when talking about registrations.

I have also noticed that LGW birds have been on that route. Have they been covering for G-VFAB?

It looks like FAB has been doing plenty of BOS and MIA runs the past few months, but with all of the UCS re-fits, things are a bit crazy (FAB even went to MCO) so LGW could have been substituting for other planes.

SafetyDude....Who cares what you call the thing? Sheesh.
Many people do care, and it is also a matter of what is right and what is wrong. You will always hear "ship number 1234", not "boat number 1234".

In no way was I trying to be rude, bur rather I was just trying to help people with correct word usage. This is what you get for trying to be nice.  Insane

Yep, I guess that's what you get for appearing to be sarcastic, and a "know-it-all" Big grin

What happened to G-VFAB? I saw her not too long ago either, 5 or 6 days ago. Did she go mechanical?

And Will:

From someone who actually works in the aviation industry, people use all kinds of terminology for everything. I've heard so many different terms for so many different things that, in the end, you pick the one you like and use it the most. At our place, when a plane comes in full, we call it a "full boat". And I like that term. So I am going to keep using it.

I was never being sarcastic in explaining ship/boat. I was not trying to be a know-it-all. I am very grateful when someone tells me something new or gives me more information.

I know that FAB operated a flight just two days ago and have not heard of any problems.

At our place, when a plane comes in full, we call it a "full boat". And I like that term. So I am going to keep using it.
Per my original post, I was saying that when identifying a plane, ship is used: "Ship 1234 is going to be catered." When not specifically identifying a plane, you can use whatever (such as "full boat").

Will...it's not a big fricken deal what you call the damn plane...My gosh. If I wanna call it a boat...I'm gonna call it a boat. And if anyone makes THAT big of a deal over it...All I'm gonna do is laugh at them and walk away. Anyone who takes what you call a damn airplane that seriously needs to find a hobby.

Is this boat/ship/airplane a charter operation of some sort??? I can't see LHR - BOS traffic justifying either an A340-600 or a B747. I would think either an A330 or a B767 would suffice if the route is flown with any frequency.

KIM777fan-
I think that AA, BA and VS would disagree with you on the amount of traffic between LHR-BOS. These are today's (8/20/04) flights. In addition there is a 3 times a week VS A340-300
London, England American 109 12:45 PM Arrived 777-200
London, England American 155 08:02 PM Scheduled 777-200
London, England British Airways 213 12:54 PM Arrived 747-400
London, England British Airways 51G 06:37 PM In Flight n/a
London, England British Airways 239 09:06 PM Scheduled 777-200
London, England Virgin Atlantic Airways 11 05:15 PM Inflight 747-400

VS has regularly scheduled 744 service.

I would think either an A330 or a B767 would suffice if the route is flown with any frequency.
VS operates neither.  Big grin
