Anyone Know Whats Up With A TCX Flight From SFB

Sun Aug 15, 2004 2:44 am

09.30 TCX072L ORLANDO SFB DELAYED

Due in to GLA at 09.30 and currently 18.45.

Is this due to the hurricane or does the aircraft have a technical probelm? I think it's an A330.

Realise SFB was closed for a period. But another SFB-GLA flight arrived shortly before the TCX was meant to arrive so I didn't think it was due to the weather.

It was due to Hurricaine Charley.

SFB was closed last night, the First Choice Airways GLA-SFB-GLA flight was the last aircraft to be allowed to arrive and depart before the airport was closed. The flight actually had to depart 30 min early to ensure the aircraft, passengers and crew weren't stranded.

The Thomas Cook SFB-GLA-SFB flight got in, but there was insufficient time to load passengers and depart, so to avoid the aircraft being damaged it was flown empty to Nassau to sit out the storm. 2 inbound MyTravel flights were diverted, and an Air Atlanta 747 was stranded on the ground in SFB during the storm when the airport closed.

Both the Air Atlanta and Thomas Cook flights are now boarding to return to the UK according to the Sanford Airport website

A difficult 24 hours for all airlines serving Florida!
