This has kind of old news now as it was talked about last week in a Star Alliance thread. It will be delivered around November if I remember correctly.

Again the dull scheme... The only Star Alliance livery I like is the all-white one on an Austrian A332

777ER,

I mentioned last week that the delivery was ZK-OJI in November, however it is now ZK-OJH and will be here in a few weeks, early September. When I find out the delivery details I will let you know.

Will this A320 carry a Koru at some stage? I know that it won't be on the tail

Lauda Air has a 733 OE-ILF in the same scheme as the OS A332 OE-LAO.

I didn't mind the star alliance livery where it had the logo of all the airlines down the side and the star logo on the tail, but to me the black tail with logo and the all while fuse with black "STAR ALLIANCE" paint really could use more colour.

Just my opinion  Smile

Of course, an Ansett Australia A-320 wearing the Star Alliance livery would look much nicer than the Air NZ version...

Flykal, What makes you think that? Because all the Star painted aircrafts all look the same expect SQs B773

Will the aircraft just operate on the NZ-OZ sectors?? Or does Air New Zealand use the Airbus to other destinations?

Delivered in early September? Will be on the lookout. Thanks for the info!

NZ uses their A320s for flights to some Pacific islands too, if I'm not mistaken.

In my opinion, the star alliance livery is outclassed by the pacific wave, but I guess that we are the only ones thus far without a logo jet.

NZ also use a A320 on the AKL-WLG domestic run

Each route does not have its own dedicated aircraft. The whole fleet rotate through every port, so expect to see it in AKL,WLG,CHC,ZQN,SYD,MEL,BNE,APW,NLK,RAR,NAN,TBU,PPT - i think thats all of them, but I have had a long and tiring day. They occasionaly fly AKL-WLg and AKL-CHC, and while it is operated as a proper domestic flight, it is mainly used to position the aircraft for an international sector.

For info, ZK-OJH arrives in AKL at 3.30am on the 13th Sep, and departs 2 or 3 days later, prob to SYD at this stage.

NZ1

According to a VERY reliable resource an A320 is being used for 1 or 2 AKL-WLG and WLG-AKL run because NZ gave Freedom Air ZK-NGA.

Good to see another scheme, something else to photograph for a while.

The A320's don't yet go to PPT, NLK or TBU, though i'm sure they will in the future. RAR starts from around Oct 31st with A320 service.

When I was browsing the schedules a while back there were a lot of A320's on the AKL-CHC run for the Northern Winter!

777ER....you've got to read between the lines....

Of course the liveries are the same, the fact is that if it was on an Ansett A-320, we would assume Ansett was still flying today and not a distant memory!

Cheers

Then in that case FlyKal stop trolling for a Ansett failure / Blame NZ war. The reasons for this are well known and have been discussed repeatedly.

NZ made a bad decision buying Ansett. They tried to reform the airline but were hamstrung by the unions. NZ wanted to get SQ to invest but the NZ govt stalled them wanting a QF buy in. In the end NZ in order to survive had to pull the plug.

777ER,
Flykal is just being a dickhead by trying to stir things up.
It's a pity that some members of this forum still expect us Kiwi A.netters to take the rap for that debacle.
Now, how 'bout we discuss KAL's safety record?

Well NZ767...I obviously struck a nerve with you. For the information of yourself and RupesNZ, there was no mention of link between Air NZ and the Ansett failure...you were the ones to bring that up, not me. Geez, isn't a guy allowed to reflect for a second or so on his past employer and what could have been?

And for your information, KAL is now happily feeding the piggy banks of some 50+ ex Air NZ Captains who have left for greener pastures. Not to mention the many sim instructors who are also ex Air NZ Captains.

Now, how 'bout we discuss KAL's safety record?
Sure, bring it on. I'm more than happy to discuss KAL's past safety record. Ball's in your court.

I was speaking with a Freedom Captain not long ago and was under the impression ZK-NGA would join the Freedom fleet later this year when some of the other 737's were due for mx. This aircraft would then be used to increase the fleet size to 5. I'm sure it was going to be Sep. or Oct.
Anyone else know anything about this???

-NGA operated a number of services for SJ earlier in the month/last month to cover scheduled maintenance on the SJ fleet. NGA will be going permanently to Freedom after ZK-OJH (the Star Alliance 320) arrives in mid September.

Perhaps our user Nz1 will be involved in the reconfig of NGA and will be able to elaborate a bit!

As TG992 has said, ZK-NGA will transfer to Freedom once the next A320 (ZK-OJH) arrives. It will be repainted before it transfers. At this stage, ZK-SJE is scheduled to leave the Freedom fleet and be replaced by A320 ZK-OJJ early next year.

777ER, as I said earlier, the A320's do fly occasional domestic sectors, though mainly to repostion. However, they are proper scheduled flights.

Hope this helps
