I'm sure Northwest is amongst the top four.

I would think that it would either be Delta or USAir for #1, American, United.

It depends on what metric you're using. Seats and departures are probably the two most common metrics.

By seats, it's AA, then DL, then US.

By departures, it's AA, then US, then DL.

By mainline departures, it's US, then AA, then DL.

By destinations, it's AA, then US, then DL.

AA is the largest by a little bit, then US/DL.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

Remeber when EA and DL were the two dominant carriers? i remember in the mid-8o's, DL served the most nonstop mainline destinations:

BGR
PWM
JFK
LGA
BDL
CVG
PHL
ORD
ATL
DFW
MIA
FLL
TPA
PBI
MCO
BDA
YUL
(SLC, later on)

A330323X,

Where's that info from? By mainline flights, US leads at BOS, followed by DL, and then AA. Also, DL carries the most passengers at BOS. So it's hard to say who's the largest, they all have their pluses. DL carrying the most PAX, AA serving the most destinations, and US having the most flights.

Where's that info from?

The AA/DL numbers I was looking at were a few months old, so it's possible things could have changed a little bit, especially since they're all so close to each other.

So it's hard to say who's the largest, they all have their pluses.

Just what I said, it just depends on what metric you use.

No debating that they're clearly the top three, though.
