Embraer 170 An Impressive Sight

Wed Aug 18, 2004 4:45 am

Monday was my off day from work, so I drove up to Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (DVT) to do some plane watching and take a few photos. Well, lo and behold, sometime around 11:30 am (Mountain Standard Time - Ariz.), I look to the West and see an Embraer 170 in manufacturer's livery, landing at this nice little airport. I snapped off a few shots, especially as it taxied back to a hangar on the far west side.

I was in awe, to say the least. There are no carriers flying 170's into Phoenix, at least none I know of, so this was a real treat for me. I like this aircraft. Although the slope of the nose somewhat resembles an anteater, it's an attractive jet.

Does anyone out there have any idea what this 170 was doing flying into DVT rather than PHX?

Probably making a visit to Honeywell. Which would make sense as the big E-jets have a suite of Honeywell avionics.

Thanks, DesertJets. I forgot about Honeywell. As soon as I can get the use of a scanner, I'll try to post one or two of my photos.

I'll be flying IAHPHL tomorrow on a US EMB170.. Should be interesting to see how it compares to the 135/145..

The 170 is nothing like the 135/145. The seats are closer to F seats than to Y seats, the windows may be twice the size of those on the 135/145, and there is much more room than on practically any other plane. I flew one for the first one Sunday and am a huge fan.
