Airports With Intercon By Foreign Carriers Only?

Wed Aug 18, 2004 5:44 am

Any intercon gateways for whom foreign carriers provide its only scheduled intercontinental service?

IINM, EDI's only intercon is CO from New York.

Add to that TPA, where pretty sure BA's London run remains the only intercon.

LAS is another, with VS from London and JL from Tokyo.

Also MCO with BA, VS, et al.

...any others? Exclude scheduled charter.

How much do you want to bet that you get many posts that will list an American carrier or will list a destination that is not intercontinental.

Anyway I think the ones you list just about cover it as far as scheduled service goes. The only one I can add is PVD which has scheduled service to the Azores by one of the Portugal carriers. Can't think of their name.

YMX is only served by International flights, both regular and charter. The
regular scheduled flights are operated by both SS (ORY) and TS (mostly CDG) plus there are a numerous charter destinations operated by TS and the seasonal 5G mostly to Caribbean.

BWI offers no intercontinental service by a US carrier, but a few on foreign lines.

Isn,t TS a Canadian company? I don't think that qualifies as foreign in Canada.

Also the Caribbean isn't intercontinental!

CUN

MP to AMS, maybe another scheduled carrier, but certainly no domestic carriers flying intercontinental from there.

Some European airports fit into the description too....

NCE, as far as I know, also gets DL from JFK, plus MEA Middle East Airlines (Lebanon)">ME from Beirut, and EK and SV from DXB and RUH respectively (both 1-stop services though). And of course, since Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and Israel are on different continents, flights to those destinations also count as intercontinental, don't they!  Big grin

VCE's only scheduled, year-round intercontinental flight is DL's JFK service, plus 5G's seasonal weekly service from YYZ (charter, but semi-regular in that it is operated every summer). Volare plans to start MXP-VCE-PVG soon, but with them you never know.

What about OSL? Since SAS dropped the EWR route, there's only CO, and Pakistan Int'l to Islamabad, isn't there?

Orlando Sanford....?

There only seems to be foreign carriers through there. Some flights can be bought ticket-only direct from the airline so it's sort of a scheduled service.

BOBNWA:

You are absolutely right, TS is Canadian and I got carried away with the
Intercontinental, forgetting the "Foreign carrier" request.

As for the Caribbean it is considered Intercontinental by Canadian IATA/BSP
destination guide. Canada (destination #9) is domestic, the USA (destination #0) is TransBorder, and all others are International including Caribbean (2) and
Central America / Mexico (1)

So to answer the original question, YMX does not qualify!

NCE also gets TS flights from YMQ and YTO, and TK flights from IST (IST being intercontinental or not is a bit of a debate at the moment, but geographically probably not).

The idea of AF ever again offering longhaul (or even European) flights from NCE is laughable - right now they serve Paris and, er... that's it.

MEA's NCE service is only summer seasonal. It operates 2x weekly A321.

Actually, Intercon service wise, I think DEN qualifies. Since UA is rabidly against going international from DEN the only intercon out of DEN is flown by BA (DEN-LHR) and Lufthansa. f9 flies a considerable number of fligts into Mexico as well.
