This aircraft seems to be taking off from LAX with near fighter-like performance. The photographer says in the caption that it's a genuine air to air photo..."no discussions please." I can't help it , how did he do it?

how did he do it?
In his other pictures, he mentions that he was in a Cessna above LAX.

This is truly a breathtaking photograph.
I wonder though if the 747 is indeed only "a few hundred feet below". If so, I ask myself, how can the LAX airport security let a Cessna repeatedly fly a course like this. "A few hundred feet" is considered a near miss and has to be reported, and, in case of deliberateness, punished!
Or is the photographer maybe in a LAX special security force itself?

Leelaw,

There is a VFR flyway either just at the shoreline or just offshore at LAX. The altitude of the flyway puts you just above the departing traffic from LAX. With a good camera and a stabilized long lens, these shots are not that difficult. Timing is the hardest part.
