Thoughts On US Airways B762ER

Wed Aug 18, 2004 11:06 pm

Hi all,

I've just booked a return trip MUC-PHL-YUL on US Airways for a fantastic Euro 430.
I've never been on US, how's their product? The schedule shows a B762 which is not my favourite a/c. Is it crampy? How's their trans-atlantic service (in coach)?

Thanks for your comments!

PS: Did a search on recent US related posts - nothing found....

The B762's are older, ex-Piedmont birds. they are getting older, but as of last week they were still clean, well-maintained, and marginally comfortable.

Only 5 of them are ex-Piedmont, the other 5 were delivered new to USAir.

Anyway, they're not bad. The IFE is certainly nothing special, the food is alright. I find the seats to be quite comfortable. The flight attendants are terrific.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

Only ships 645, 646, 648, 649, and 650 are the older ex-Piedmont birds.

I've only flown one on a short domestic flight (CLT-PIT), but found the seats to be comparable to the other domestic aircraft. Looking back, I wouldn't mind it for a long-haul flight. You should be just fine.

I flew it to MCO last year and found them to be very comfortable, though nothing special. They are definately starting to show their age. US Airways, IMHO, has some of the best service and flight attendants in the industry. Seating is quite standard, but avoid the overwing exit seats, (12A,B,F,G) due to insufficient legroom. Enjoy the service and a classic aircraft!!
