Is 1 Hour 15 Min. Enough Connection Time In CDG?

Thu Aug 19, 2004 11:36 pm

I'll be flying to Prague in October it looks like and am currently scheduled on Air France to CDG, connecting to CSA Czech to Prague in CDG. Connection time is 1 hour and 15 minutes and from what i am told I would have to transfer from terminal 2F to 2B.

Would I have to go through immigration (since I would then be traveling within the EU between Paris and Prague)?

On the return its Air France the entire way back to the US from Prague, with a 1 hour 15 minute connection?

Is this doable??? and has anyone ever done this???

It most probably is enough time, but this is CDG. Who knows what might happen?  Big grin

The Czech Republic is not in Schengen so IIRC you will not have to go through immigration and customs..

No you won't have to pass through Immigration - the Czech Republic is not part of the Schengen Area yet. 2F to 2B is pretty straightforward - there's a bus that runs airside, takes about 15 minutes.

MCT for 2F-2B is 45 minutes, so an hour and 15 is plenty.

For all its faults, CDG can be surprisingly efficient at times (as long as you don't have to connect between CDG1 and CDG2). Connections between the various CDG2 terminals are fairly quick, especially if you can remain air-side. CDG2 terminals are small enough that walking distances, once you get off the transfer bus, are relatively short. I've made very short connections (50mins) SFO-CDG-ROM and VCE-CDG-SFO (all AF online, but always between 2F and one of the other CDG2 terminals)
It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

CDG2 is, as others have said, quite effective: even though I've never had a close connection through it, the longest I've ever had to walk took about 20 minutes, and that was getting off the plane from GRU in 2F, going through passport controls at the aircraft door, walking through the real immigration posts, going out into the arrivals hall, walking over to 2D, going through security and walking over to the gate where my flight to HAJ was leaving...

With one hour and 15 minutes you'll quite likely have quite a bit of time to spare.

Frank

You're gonna be OK with 1h and 15 mins. The killer at CDG is the transfer between CDG1 and CDG2. The rest is a breeze!
us Air Traffic Controllers have a good record, we haven't left one up there yet !!

Appreciate the responses. Luckily I dont have to connect between T1 and T2, just within Terminal to from F to B or something, so hopefully I will make it! I dont think I will have baggage so that shouldnt be a problem.

Thanks all, any other suggestions (whether to check baggage or do carry) please let me know!  Smile

I have done a 1h15 scheduled connection, no problems what-so-ever. It was one of the smoothest connections I ever made.

In June 2004, our flight from BOS dis-embarked on a hard stand (way out from the terminal), we were bussed to Terminal 2F upon which, after passing passport control, I took the bus that brings pax (still on the inside) to their respective terminals. I got to Terminal 2B within 20 minutes, no exaggeration.

1h15 is just fine.

It should be enough time. As long as your departing flight (you haven't mentioned from what airport) leaves on time. If you get delayed, then you will most likely have a long flight into CDG wondering whether or not you will make it. I missed a connection back in December at CDG cause of a late departing flight from JFK enroute to ZRH through CDG on Delta. I remember it took about 45 minutes to get from the Delta gate to the departing Airfrance flight (which we missed). Anyway, Goodluck and hopefully you get an ontime departure.

an ontime dearture from your originating airport that is!  Smile
