KLM FD: No Miles Because Of 'offer'

Fri Aug 20, 2004 4:58 pm

Dear people,

I will fly 28th October AMS to GRU and for this flight KL has a great offer. You only pay 393 EURO when having 10.000 air-miles. But the big trick: you don't get Frequent Flyer miles when using this 'Air-Miles'-offer! A flight AMS - GRU is about 12.500 FF-miles and for this you get a free ticket from AMS to anywhere in U.S. (no return). This makes 393 EURO still a nice offer, but with a little nasty taste.

However, I know someone who made 2 flights with KLM and 'Air-Miles' and somehow he did get the FF-miles. DOES SOMEONE OF YOU HAVE AN EXPERIENCE WITH KLM AND 'AIR MILES'?

'Air-Miles' is a reward program (in Netherlands) in which many supermarkets, shops, banks, car-rentals, entertainment-parks and all other kind of companies and brands reward your purchases with 'Air-Miles'. I made in 1996 a flight with KLM totally free with these Air-Miles points and now you are almost buried with 'Air-Miles' and it is even more easy to get enough miles for a flight. So, those 10.000 miles are nothing much. Because you still have to pay 460 EURO (incl. tax), I would really like having FF-miles for this flight.

thx.

Isn't it 12.500 miles for a award ticket from AMS to anywhere in Europe o/w?

They used to give FF miles on the tickets I bought for miles and money (like BCN for 66 euro + 5000 miles and Birmingham for 99 + 2500 miles) last year and this spring, but they changed it recently, I think starting at 1 July 2004.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

@ Canberra
They are often/always offering some destinations in US for 12.500 miles one way.

Didn't know that, maybe I shouldn't have used 12.500 miles for AMS-DUS o/w then. On the other hand the oneway fee of EUR 175 for AMS-DUS is probably not a lot less than AMS-U.S. oneway (at least if the take a discounted r/t and divide with two Big grin)

Anyway thanks for info..
