Airline 8/23/04

Tue Aug 24, 2004 12:13 pm

I suppose I'll start tonight's thread on the Airline episodes that just aired.

Must say that there where some real jack asses flying on the show today, particurlay the guy at LAX who was giving the gate staff a hard time and bumped to a later flt, is he the type of guy you would like to have on board your flight? I dunno.

There was the case with the women trying to take raw chicken and maggot infested fish w/ them, (What don't they understand about transporting dead meat?) Gawd, it was sick seeing those fish. Any of you customer reps/ramp agents experienced cargo like that?

Of course there where the better moments like the couple renewing their vows at FL300, what a better way to celebrate 30 years of marriage? Of course recreating a bachelor party at that altitude would be an experience also, especially if it is like one bachelor party held aloft (ironically on SWA).

Well just my first thoughts on this weeks helping of Airline.

BTW: Do any of you know if A&E air reruns at other times in the week, and if so when?

THANX and remember "We all have our baggage".

I was laughing hysterically at the group at BWI trying to get to ORF. I was imaging what type of position they were applying for at BWI. When I found out that they were applying to be FAs, I was laughing hysterically. I would presume that someone applying for a job in the airline industry would know about non-rev tickets, and even then, would not start a fuss with the airline that they want to work with. I certainly would not want that FA on my flight if something when astray.  Laugh out loud

Yes, although it is usually at some odd-hour. Check with your TV program information guide.

YES, I momentarily forgot about that trio. Really it was the one fat woman in the gray blouse suit that was the real problem, the other two appeared to have the bad luck of traveling w/ her. Definitely not who I would want to see on any flight, especially as an airline employee.

I really loved it when the fat F/A applicant said "Southwest has ISSUES!"
Notice that she hand the hand and hip action going! I thought the remark "Southwest hires freindly people, we don't teach people to be freindly" said it all. Then someone had to actually explain to them that acting in this manner will not assure them a job with WN.

However, since WN did have them there for an interview, it would have been nice to put them up overnight somewhere. They would not have made the trip otherwise.

As for the Nigerian woman with the moldy fish.. have any of you ever been to Nigeria? The food conditions there can be very poor.

Do you know if I can download any episode? No one shows the program in Argentina.

Well, if they can't speak English, don't understand English rules and culture, and believe that transporting rancid meat is normal, they only thing they don't undestand is why they are not on their flight!

As for the applicants, not only should they know that they are non revs, they should know that, for 1 thing, they represent Southwest at the airport...they are being viewed by their coworkers and everything. All of the employees were appaled! Secondly, they should know that Airline was beign filmed...and even if they didn't, its common sense not to (and i hate to curse on this site, so sorry) BITCH about their travels to a TV crew. For all they know it could have been Southwest TV...in a sense it was, actually, as WN screens every show! I cannot believe the one womans reaction, it seemed as if she just came for the free trip. However, you could tell that the other 2 were ok, but their jobs were probably put in serious jeopardy by their not stopping their friend. The lady did express some sympathy, but they didn't seem to care (thye weren't BITCHING), but they acted like it meant nothing. Bottom line, they should not work for WN and I think that they set a bad example and it did not help WNs reputation...I do not know if it was too wise on their part to show that, but it was good for us aviation buffs!
