SQ 020 A345 Emergency Return (24/8)

Tue Aug 24, 2004 9:40 pm

I've heard that an SQ A340-500 operating flight 020 on 24th Aug. has made an emergency return back to SIN after two hours inflight due to an engine failure? Can anyone confirm this? This is apparantley what the crew told the passengers onboard. As far as I know, the plane has returned to Singapore safley after dumping fuel and passengers are now boarding a different plane with a different set of crew for the flight to LAX. Can anyone elaborate on what happened?

I haven't heard of the 345 having any issues. I can barely keep track of Boeing "flaws" (pro-Boeing) so Airbuses are a different story for me. Those engines are massive! Glad to hear that everyone is ok and that, be it an airbus or Boeing or lago, the a/c did it's job and got them back to the ground aok! Thanks again and I look forward to the whole story.

Thanks again.
