Has Anyone Bought JP Airline Fleets 2004/05?

Wed Aug 25, 2004 12:08 am

In the past I found the annual "JP Airline Fleets International" books to be very valuable resources, but the last edition I bought (approx. 3-4 years ago) was full of printing errors (like upside-down pages) and typos. Since that disappointment (and also due in part to the ever-rising cost of the book), I have generally found all the fleet info I need on the internet. However, occasionally I am unable to find data on some obscure smaller carriers, so I am considering buying the latest edition of the JP just so I have an up-to-date desk reference.

Before I shell out the cash, though, I thought I'd ask here to see if anyone has bought a copy. If so, have you found it to be accurate? How was the printing quality? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!  Smile

I have it! Haven't found typo's yet, and the printing quality is fine!

Maybe you had bad luck with the last edition you bought?

I also found relevant typos in the last issues (like all 747-200s missing in Northwests fleet, that´s not a minor error!). That why I didn´t buy the book since 2000.

Thanks for the replies. Na, was that error in the 2004-05 edition?

No, I think it was the 2002/03 edition.
I haven´t had a look into the new edition so far.

The errors that NA is talking about was in the JP edition two years ago, not the 2004/2005 edition. An additional list that's now included is the Boeing Customer code list eg 21 is PA, 22 is UA, 23 is AA etc.

I haven't found any errors in the current book.

The new edition is pretty good, I think they double checked after the disaster with all the 747 classics missing in the 2002 edition. I also can recommend the CD-rom, because you can search any registration or type in the pdf formatted list.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

It is available in the U.S. for $75.95 at http://www.buchair.com/JPAF.htm

Excellent! That's a very smart thing to include--I'm glad they thought of that.

Thanks again for all the helpful replies...I am leaning towards ordering it now.
