The collision between the IL
76 and the Saudia 747 happened because the Il 76 captain decided to go down to 140 when he was specifically asked to maintain 150. Not much ATC can do there , specially when the 2 aircrafts are flying towards each other at a combined speed of over 500 Knots.
As far as this news go , I cannot figure out as to how the 2 aircrafts would have collided specially when one is landing and the other is taking off even if they were on the same altitude ???????? At the bare minimum the seperation would have been one runway length about 3.4 Kms (9/27). I dont think any of the aircrafts taking off would ever manage to get on to the approach or the landing path even if they need to take off and do a 180 turn .
Crazy reporting , prolly the best would be to wait for the official result....
