Quickie: Umbrellas Allowed?

Sun Aug 29, 2004 10:17 am

This is a dumb question, but... Are golf umbrellas allowed as a personal carry-on item? Can I carry the item itself around the airport and onto the aircraft? I checked out the airlines's website, but it's quite vague. I'm just asking, because some of them folks around the airport may think I'm a Mr. Penguin terrorist.

I've never seen umbrellas on the list of banned items, but let's just hope that you really don't have one of those "Penguin" umbrellas (with the machine gun sword, knock-out gas, etc.). The TSA might miss that, but Batman will surely be hot on your trail.  Laugh out loud

According to the TSA list, your umbrella is allowed as a carry-on, but be prepared as it will be inspected at the security checkpoint. The same rule also applies with walking canes.
