I'd have thought you're wanting to start a petition rather than a partition!

Personally I don't think TUI would pay any attention to it. Is it really worth you spending your time and effort on it?

As Shamrock_747 says, its petition  Wink/being sarcastic
Unfortunatly its too late, all BY a/c shall (with exception of maybe the BY Sweden a/c and 762s) be painted into the TUI/Thomson c/s

Keep the name, but not the livery.

The old one was nice, but IMO so is the new one.

No, Mark, you are correct in my opinion. Sure, the old one was a classic, but there is nothing wrong with the Thomson one. Maybe if they had kept the TUI scheme (the one between the classic and the Thomson  Big grin) then i would have thought about it. But the 'billboard' titles make it look great against the blue colour, which I think is nice.

The only bad thing about the TUI scheme (the middle one) was that it was generally a load of wasted space, where the titles weren't as big, but the new livery has fixed that and looks great.

If it was any petition about colours of Britannia/Thomson then i would say leave them as they are currently, where you got a mix of 3 schemes, and a couple of hybrids, but that would look messy Big grin

I honestly don't see anything bad about the new one.

I would have to say keep the motif on the tail and perhaps the name, but the livery really does look a bit outdated, how many years was the old one around for, anyone know?

Cheers,

The old livery was a classic, but it's time to move on. A petition on a.net is extremely unlikely to stop aircraft being painted in the new colors.

Cheers,

Jeff

The old livery was introduced in 1984 to coincide with the delivery of their first B767.

Although it may have been due a slight update, I still much prefer the old livery. By comparison the new one just says 'cheap and tacky' in my eyes.

Why campaign for a livery for an airline that won't exist after next year?

The Britannia name is going the same way as Air 2000. The airline will soon be completely rebranded as Thomson.

That came (unofficially) from the top of BY.

Yuck, I hate it! Everytime I see it fly past i'm scared it's going to blind me with its awfulness Laugh out loud! I absolutely hate it and would do anything to keep the old scheme. The 757 looks stunning in the old BY scheme,

The livery is nice on the 767 aircraft only, but it makes the 757's look really old.

I like the classic livery on the 767-200, the TUI livery on 767-300 aircraft, and the Thomson.co.uk livery on the 757-200 aircraft.
I doubt the livery will get a full change of the 767-200, except for the hybrid which is currently on G-BRIG, I have heard rumours of BY getting rid of the 762 fleet in the near future, but nothing confirmed.

You won't be able to save the classic Britannia livery its too late, the re-branding is too far down the lane, plus the Thomson livery is growing on everyone as they get used to it I feel.

Yup. In fact, it has pretty much gone already. No references to it on board, or in the Inflight Magazine, or in the Thomson brochures. Basically, it's usage is only internal at the moment, except for the minor fact that everyone still refers to it as "Britannia."

As a side note, any guesses for the 2 or 3 letter flight code that they will IMHO have to adopt in order to make the rebrand whole and complete? And TOM has already been taken by Thomsonfly.

Yeah the 'bet' is on, because: 1. It'll never work. 2. BY Would never change back its too out dated. 3. They are part of TUI now, the scheme wouldn't fit in with their company.

Well I don't know about a weekend job, I work full-time at MAN, also I'm the same age as you, but it'll be impossible to get a weekend job here, we have enough working weekend's here, its the early mornings, and the night shifts which are empty.

Not that I think that they will alter it, but Neos has a tail logo different to the TUI masterbrand.

BMI701EGCC,
I completely agree with you. The Britannia livery was much more fitting. Your battle against the 'big guns' (TUI/Thomson) may be futile, but in any case, you can add me to your petition!!

I'm pretty sure that Neos is no longer connected with TUI hence the differences.

Forget the old Britannia c/s - too long gone now. Sad

All may be not lost though - this Corsair aircraft operates in a hybrid livery...

The old one was nice but not quite in sync with the "clapping on landing charter tourist" clientele. The new one is.

I like them both, but for different reasons. The old one was very classy. The new one has a lovely blue and is quite daring and bold, sort of like the BMI livery. There are too few airlines that manage to be daring and not screw up. I'm bored of Eurowhite.

Sian, a warm welcome to A.nut! We'll help you overcome your fear of flying, or more likely make you more afraid than ever. Just the fact that security lets us A.nutters onto the planes scares me  Big grin The pilots and techs hang out in Tech_Ops. They can answer even the most obscure queries.

I think that they should at least keep the Britannia woman on the tail but with the TUI scheme, that would make me slightly happier, but as said earlier, any petition to get rif of this awful scheme and bring back a petition, you can add my name to it!

Whitehatter,
Couldn't agree more! Maybe we should begin a petition to reinstate the original 'classic' livery!  Smile And I know what you mean about those take-offs in the BY 732's, I had a few flights on them in the early 1980's to PMI and ALC from LBA when the runway was still only 5400ft. Talk about pinned in your seat!  Big thumbs up

Perhaps we could combine all our suggestions into one idea:

Keep the garish "Thomson.co.uk" livery (or whatever it is, haven't flown with them since May), but restore "Britannia" on the tail. As BA has abandoned it's "Landor" (?) design, wouldn't it be great if at least one British airline would display some sort of British emblem on their planes?

"Rule Britannia!" Big grin

BMI and Virgin both have the Union Flag in their livery. If you look at the white part of BMI's blue scheme, it's actually a faded flag.

On Virgin the lady has her Union cape, and the winglets have the flag.

Whitehatter & Shamrock_747,
Thanks for correcting me. I am a newbie, but I still prefer Britannia on the tail as opposed to a token "Union Jack". Big grin

StarlionBlue: "Pleidiol Wyf I'm Gwlad" is the first line from the chorus of the Welsh national anthem "Hen Wlad fy Nhadau" (The Land of my Fathers) and means "I am in support of my country". Not a bad guess! And thanks for asking. Big grin
